AAU Hosts the Meeting of UAE Academic and Research Library Directors
Al Ain University recently hosted the meeting of the UAE Academic and Research Library Directors at its campus in Abu Dhabi. At the arrival, the guests received a warm welcome from Mr. Abdoualye Kaba, Library Director, and Ms. Lina Abu Libdeh, Library Supervisor. The visitors then toured the library before heading to the meeting room.
The meeting was led by Dr. Abdullah Al Hefeiti, Chairman of the UAE Academic and Research Library consortium and moderated by Vanessa Middleton, Head Librarian for the Petroleum Institute. During the meeting, the directors discussed cooperation and networking among libraries, organizing activities to promote reading and support for scientific research.
On behalf of AAU, Dr. Amer Mohammad Qasem, Deputy Dean of Business Administration College said: “We are honored to host UAE Academic and Research Library Directors meeting. As part of the strategic plan, AAU is determined to continuously improve library resources and services. We encourage cooperation and networking among libraries. We believe that libraries play important roles in promoting reading, supporting research, innovations, and creativities”.
For his part, Mr. Kaba stated that “the library directors meetings represent a forum for cooperation and collaboration among the member institutions to share resources and experience, to promote reading, and to support scientific research in the UAE”. He said: “This meeting is special because it is the first time hosted by AAU, in addition to the issues discussed in this meeting. We are doing all we can to expand our cooperation and networking with other libraries”.
It is noteworthy that, the meeting was attended by library representatives of Zayed University, Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, Petroleum Institute, Abu Dhabi University, Khalifa University. Other participating institutions include American University of Ras Al Khaimah, University of Dubai, Emirate College for Advanced Education.
